JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary:
The Maternity Home Staff Assistant assists the Houseparents in creating a peaceful and nurturing home atmosphere for single mothers. She will encourage women in the program through friendship, mentorship, and providing a model of godly living (including in singleness and dating). She supports the women by offering resources, mentorship, goal setting/achieving, discipleship, etc. She also assists the houseparents as needed with transportation, administrative duties, Christian character training, food preparation, household chores, and other needs as they arise.
Responsibilities:

Commit to daily prayer and quiet times for personal spiritual growth and maturity

Daily pray for the staff team and residents of New Beginnings Homes (NBH)
-
Maintain contact with personal support team and effectively fundraise to support herself in ministry
-
Attend weekly Prayer & Updates Staff Meetings
-
Build positive relationships with all residents living on the NBH campus
-
Communicate with houseparent(s) and ministry directors in order to provide comprehensive care to the women

Partner with House Parents to:
-
Aid in the day-to-day operation and management of the maternity home including administrative tasks and all resident’s mandatory activities that fall within the workday
-
Provide mentorship for women in the program (staff assistant may have up to three 1-on-1’s at a time)

Support women in classes, labor and delivery, appointments, etc as needed.

Respond to incoming applications and assist with interviewing potential residents
-
Share in the responsibility of staffing evenings and weekends. This schedule can vary at times depending on vacations and may include assisting with other ministries on the NBH campus.

Ensuring daily/weekly/monthly chores are completed by residents
-
Meal planning with the residents to create a nutritious dinner menu for Monday-Friday evenings (weekends are leftovers/on-your-own meals)

Assist with troubleshooting various household issues as they arise (this can be anything from relationships to maintenance).

Other Responsibilities:

Assist with fundraising, events, and tours as needed
-
This role has the opportunity to overlap with other roles in accordance with the staff assistant’s God-given giftings to facilitate hospitality, plan events, manage social media, graphic design, community engagement, photography, support the volunteer team, property maintenance, etc.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Personal knowledge of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and exhibits Christian character

Completion of Discipleship Training School with Youth With a Mission

Able to work independently on a variety of tasks with limited supervision
-
Assessment/diagnostic ability to recognize resident needs and respond appropriately
-
Administrative/organizational skills
-
Able to communicate effectively and positively in both written and verbal communication

Valid driver’s license
-
Ability to pass a background check
Preferred Skills:
-
Experience working with expectant mothers and/or single mothers
-
Experience involving supervision of teenagers or working with youth

Length of Commitment/ Hours:
-
At least one year to start out. With hopeful extensions in 6+ month increments
-
You could instead commit at an intern level which would be a minimum 6 month commitment

Generally, hours are 9am to 8pm 5 days a week with 2 days off. Hours may change and there may be some nights on as well. Due to the nature of this position, there may often be times you are “working” outside your normal hours please have flexibility with this. The team will be flexible so that time off to rest and rejuvenate will be given.

This is a volunteer position that comes with a private apartment (1 bed & 1 bath w/kitchenette) inside the 5000 sq ft Maternity Home. All meals are provided as well as a vehicle to be used for ministry purposes. Living expenses are free for all staff ($125/mo. for interns). All missionaries who have been through a DTS with Youth With A Mission (and commit at least 2 years to the ministry) have the opportunity to raise their support through the ministry.
Evaluation:

Regular feedback will be provided. The staff assistant will be evaluated at 30 days, 60 days, 90 days and quarterly thereafter.
